I don't have good enough info to give you anything really useful, but in a lot of states you can go to court and risk the full fine if you lose or take some kind of deal where you plead guilty in exchange for a reduced fine/traffic school/no points on your license/etc. Does she have an option like this? Whenever I get excited to reach for a bag of procedural tricks or prepare a pro se defense, I usually end up concluding that pleading guilty and paying the discounted fine is easier. (Admittedly, my experience here is very limited and not super relevant.)
