We took a knee on 3rd down with 18 seconds left. So now it's 4th down and the scoreboard would have reflected that. SMU could have called timeout and forced us to punt on 4th down. We wouldn't have put a knee on it on 4th down if they would have used their timeout.

It was very odd how they just gave up and how we didn't manage the clock correctly. We didn't even use the full play clock on that 3rd down.
