a surgery that also included a biopsy. The consequences if I'd had cancer would've been devastating, disfiguring, really bad stuff. As I briefly drifted back into consciousness in recovery, I asked my surgeon, "No cancer?" And he responded, "No cancer." Great news! and just like that, I was off to dreamland again. (He'd been able to tell just by looking at the samples he'd taken that they weren't the sort of malignancy he was checking for.)
Some time later, I visited his office for a follow-up and to plan another, bigger surgery. I said, "Hey, Doctor. I've gotta tell ya I remember being awake for just a moment and asking you whether I was cancer-free. And you said, "No cancer." What a great moment!" He smiled and responded, "Yeah, you asked me that about ten times." 😃
Anyway, glad you got great news! Hugely happy for you and your family!
