early season opponents. They hide most of the playbook. They intend to try 4th downs and other situations. BYU intentionally made it hard on itself in this way to make it easier to succeed in future games. BYU looked better than they have many years in similar games and against similar opponents in other years. BYU performed dramatically better than expected based on the spread.

Were there ways to improve? Yes. Every team has those after every game. I hope they improve on a good performance.
