I think Payton didn't want to put all his eggs in the Nix basket, especially when it was possible, not likely but possible he'd be off the board by 12. And even then, if Nix showed up and stunk it up, he needed a backup plan.


Well, he got Nix, and Nix most definitely has not stunk it up. Zach is a free agent after this season. If someone comes with a good offer so they can shore up their QB2 spot, Zach will be traded.



Payton sees something in Zach? And? Where would that lead? In 15 years he can play for a year after both Nix and Payton are retired? Unless Zach is happy to never again take a shot at being QB1 (not likely), he has no future in Denver with the way things stand right now.
