We’ve been here 25 yrs. We put in the pond and pool the year we moved in. We’ve always had some bees (and wasps) around
getting water from the pool and pond, but never like this. They are absolutely related.
I just figured getting a colony out of a sofa sitting in a yard would be fairly simple. Guess not, learned something.
The “almost” sting wasn’t a bee “protecting” a hive, it was a bee landing in the wrong place, her neck, to get water.
Grandkids, and others, are in the pool constantly all summer. It is a bit of a hazard with hundreds of bees flying around them.
