You're not wrong in that home prices in certain parts of the the country have
gotten very expensive. There are plenty of places where you can still but a good home for a decent price. We also spend a lot more money today than people did 30-40 years ago. Cell phones, cable tv, subscription services, Amazon deliveries almost daily, eating out, vacations, always having new cars, the size of "starter" homes, kids in sports and clubs, the cost of education, etc. are all expenses that have overwhelmed this generation. We are choking on our own affluence.

Kids these days can still afford to get into homes they just may need to be willing to 1) Move out of Utah or other high priced states and/or 2) be willing to make some sacrifices for 5-10 years. It is a different world they are living in they just need to make some decisions based off what is most important to them.
