We have the Firestone weathergrip 3 peak snow rated
On my daughter's car. And while they are a huge improvement over regular all season tires, the Michelins are better.

Get a FWD sedan and sell the RWD. Even with great tires going up to a ski resort would often suck

Do studded snow tires in winter, anything you want during the other times. Go cheap in Fall/Summer/Spring
