I thought the same thing watching him play the last two games last season, that
he’s trying to change arm angle on throws but wasn’t very accurate at any angle. The side arm throws were not accurate at all in my opinion. It just makes sense that he should concentrate on his basic throwing motion and use it exclusively until he improves.

In the OU game Retzlaff throws two side arm throw swing passes to the RB and both were wildly inaccurate. Also, both were backward throws so both were considered fumbles. One went out of bounds and another the RB fell on it. Either could have been turnovers. He also had one similar play against OSU, which wasn’t a turnover.

Retzlaff had six fumbles last season. One was on a miss handoff, one a pitch and another on a sack. All three turnovers. The other three fumbles were as mentioned above sidearm swing passes that luckily weren’t turnovers.

Hopefully he will be more consistent with accuracy this year. I think he has talent and could be a good game managing QB if he makes better decisions, is more accurate and takes the shorter routes and check downs when it’s given to him.
