Not the fastest way to get there but it is one of the prettiest drives you’ll ever do. Beartooth Highway was a total surprise when we decided to take that route driving once

We enjoyed seeing Devil's Tower as much or more than Mt Rushmore. Also, hiked through Jewel Cave. Stayed in Deadwood.

The Black Hills is a really underrated part of the country. Very pretty.

We did a route that included Rocky Mountain NP, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower and Yellowstone

If you hit Wall Drug you can’t miss the Corn Palace. Both are life changing.

Just a little farther east and you can also visit the Badlands National Park. Worth it, imo.
