I will never be ashamed for always having a belief that BYU football is going to have a good season. I wear my Royalblueglasses proudly. But that’s not the funny thing. Here’s the funny thing. It’s all these so called knucklehead experts who some how believe in their all mighty knowledge that there are no differences between recruiting kids to come play for an Independent BYU vs coming to play for a Big12 BYU. How in the freaking world is that a fair comparison? For years BYU had one or two full time recruiting staff plus a group of grad students. Utah State spent more money and had more recruiting staff than BYU during the last 5+ years. During the last few years of the Pac12, Utah lead the conference in spent money on recruiting than any other Pac12 school. The recruiting resources Kalani has actually had to work with during his time as head football coach compared to all the obstacles (academics, honor code, independent with no conference connection, Utah in the Pac12, Utah State getting hard money every year for recruiting, thanks to Lyle Hillard sliding that little nugget into Utah law) to name just a few makes me wonder about you negative guys. Do you even take a moment to look at the big picture or do you just look at the Vegas point spread and say fire Kalani? Why not give this coaching staff a little credit for what they did with independence and time with the new big12 money, conference affiliation, more resources, equal footing to recruit against Utah and more money for coaches before coming with your proverbial pitchforks. You say Kalani should have fired his coaches sooner-I won’t argue that much but I respect loyalty. Kalani gave those old coaches as much rope as he could. If you ask me, the people who just throw out doom and gloom are the funny ones that don’t deserve much credibility. Go Cougs!
