I think VT and NC St both end up in the SEC. It might be in the B1G and SEC’s

collective interest to have a neutral Notre Dame (the Switzerland of CFB in that scenario), so they both tolerate it. That pairs VT with NC St, which makes sense since the VA and NC are populous enough states that both conferences would want a presence there. I can see the B1G choosing Duke to allow it to claim academic superiority over the SEC.
