I found a cheap Asics carbon plate shoe for my everyday running. I think I'm a super responder to the supershoe (my times are soooo much faster), and I think it's because the carbon plate, the thick heel cushioning, and the shape of the toe all help my calves so much.
You are much further along than me. I've never done a full Ironman, or even a marathon. Today was actually my longest run ever at 20 miles (but 3700 feet elevation gain/loss and on trails, and it felt like what I imagine a marathon would feel like). Hopefully I get there!
