watchful when we rode the trains — and on the streets. We had one tense encounter on the street late in the evening. Later I noticed cops nearby. They'd done nothing to help. Thanks for that, NYPD. They probably just hadn't noticed. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Fortunately, I managed to diffuse the situation. (By the way, I thought we'd see more cops.)
Sometime after that, I overheard a mom telling her pre-teens to be careful riding the trains. Must have been a local. No way I'd let my kids ride alone. Nope. Not a chance.
However, despite that concern, we had a great time. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
