Seriously, I've never taken the standard deduction in 25+ years of filing taxes. Tithing, property tax, state tax, and
mortgage interest has always been higher than the standard deduction.
I haven't been audited so far.

In 2017 the standard deduction increased from $13K to $24K for Married FIling Jointly, and is currently at $27.7K, so
