My family returned home from a late dinner a few weeks ago and while unloading
Out of the vehicle in the dark I heard this chain being dragged down our rural road (near the city) towards us.

The sound stopped right in front of our home but I couldn’t see anything. I knew it had to be a dog vs. random livestock.

So I hustled the kids in the house and then went back to see what’s up.

Found a distressed half pitbull on a chain that appeared to have come unclipped.

Animal control doesn’t work weekends and I was worried for pedestrians safety so with dog food I caught him by his chain, tied him to my pickup, and slowly drove back to our home.

It put him in our laundry room by our side exit so he would have a warm place to stay (get out of the rain) and away from our kids.

Next morning he had destroyed our laundry room. So next night I tied him up outside but felt bad for him so gave him our other dog cushion to sleep on. Next morning I found he had ripped up our cushion.

He made me nervous to be around but was pretty mild with me. I could pet him.

My kids however was a different story. They were next to me petting him and he growled and bit at my 7 year old son. Fortunately he was able to pull his hand away just in time where the pitbull only grazed his skin and didn’t get a full hold on his hand.

I yelled at it and wanted to kick his head in but realized it could have gotten ugly fast.

Even though he broke skin, non-emergency couldn’t do anything with the dog until Monday. Police officer said I just needed to keep him tied up or let him go if I was worried with it around our kids.

I didn’t want it on the loose hurting anyone else so we kept it tied up and told the kids to stay away.

Hours later he worked his way out of the knot and went after my kids on our tramp. Fortunately we have a family dog that wouldn’t let him get to the kids.

I caught him again and tied him up further from our home and he sat there and barked for another 24 hours until animal control came and got him Monday morning.

Stupid pitbull. I was so close to shooting him myself.
