I am surprised that so many on here advocate not leaving anything for your kids.
I do not want fights between my children over my assets, but I feel like leaving something to help them in life is a good thing, if not even a duty if I can. My MIL passed last year and the estate is still being settled, but of the 8 kids there are 2-3 that are legitimately going to have a better life and better retirement from the sacrifices my in-laws made. They will not be rich but it enough to help them out. I think that should be admired.
