My dad died when I was 5. I had 1 brother. Mom remarried a few months later. My
father's mother (paternal grandma) after I had been married about a decade. Grandpa died about 5 years earlier. Grandpa apparently rewrote the will to split my father's portion 3 ways (mom, brother and I each evenly splitting father's share). However, the rewrite was poorly written and in that section gave the entire inheritance to the 3 of us, not just splitting my father's portion. We had a quick meeting. Father's siblings, mom, brother and I (none of us knew in advance why, except the uncle who was the executor). We signed an agreement that we would split just father's share and then we immediately gave my half and step-siblings about half of what we received (not much). No issues.
