I've been trying to go low carb, but always fall off the train quickly.
It's unfortunate, as I've seen the benefits and impact first-hand, and know I need to lose 40-50 pounds to get back into a healthy range. My mom is a diagnosed type two diabetic. Not wanting to rely on medication for the rest of her life to control it, she changed her diet to a low-carb one, and just by having the discipline to stick to that, she has been able to completely control her diabetes. She still has regular follow-ups with her doctor and she closely monitors her blood sugar levels. When she has checkups with her doctor, her a1c levels have regularly been in the normal range, not even in the pre-diabetes range. Basically her doctor has told her that if she didn't have the prior diagnosis, they wouldn't be able to tell she was diabetic. She does have to keep up on the low-carb diet otherwise her levels will start going back up, because she will always be diabetic. But not having to take the different medications has been a huge benefit for her.

I've been working to strengthen by self-discipline, as it's a change I need to make, along with more consistent exercise so I can be healthier. Unfortunately, I'm not there yet.
