While a judge is certainly king of his castle in court, Utah statute prohibits a

judge from increasing the fine for traffic violations. Now, if you're a jerk, a judge can throw different books at you. Also, a judge can increase the amount of points that go on your license.

I've only ever fought one ticket, which was for improper registration in my brother-in-law's car. Not having it registered in my name. I honestly think the sheriff that pulled me over was drunk.

I didn't say he'd increase the fine. He'd just add court costs to the ticket.
