He said he clocked me with his radar gun at 50, but wrote it up as 48 to be nice.
I've never gotten a speeding ticket before. I'm thinking about fighting it:
1. Because it's my first ticket ever. It's my understanding that people are generally more successful fighting their first infraction.
2. The guy was camped out maybe 100 yards away from where the speed limit increases to 50. He was on foot, just standing there with his radar gun, and walking out into traffic when he wants to stop someone. Obviously a speed trap. And not a very safe one. I'm convinced that, greater than the threat of safety from slight speeding right there, is an officer dressed in all black walking out into incoming traffic early in the morning.
My only concern is, might a judge see that he clocked me at 50 and choose to give me a bigger fine because I'm wasting his time?
