Recruiting was not good in the WCC. Probably because it was hard to sell the WCC
to anyone other than legacy recruits or diehard lifelong BYU families. We had 2 decent recruiting classes in the WCC (2014 and 2016). By decent, I mean top 50 classes. Everything else typically was in the 70 to (more commonly) sub-100 range.

With missions and delayed enrollments, those two classes formed the backbone of the one really good team we had during the WCC tenure (2020 covid team) that didn't get to play for a conference championship or in the NCAA tournament.

Part of why the WCC tenure was a disappointment to me was that our very best team of the era didn't get to play out their season and show what they could really do.
