I really like my job and my company. You seem a bit angry or bitter?
Projecting your experience to others isn’t valid most of the time.

None of my staff is overseas. My peers have people overseas. I can do anything I want but I don’t work from home, because I bring more value to my employer collaborating and leading than hanging out at home. Culture takes a huge hit with WFH. I just turned 60 and my board is begging me not to retire. They treat me incredibly. I will probably stay out of loyalty till at least 65. I don’t have to work that hard anymore. Always under 45 hours a week.

Most of my team works from home 1 or 2 days a week. We are less productive because of it but I look at it as a cost of business. I mostly have good people but some of them are milking it. There are always those that make sure the ledger always falls in their favor. Those are the ones I reluctantly give flex time to. Those that treat the company like it is theirs, I couldn’t care less if they worked 100% from home. Funny how most of them would never want more than one day at home a week. They acknowledge it would be too inefficient. Yep, great employees.

When I started at my company 6 years ago we had 14 people and were working a lot of overtime. Now we are down to 9 people and hardly working overtime. If we were all working from home we would still be at 14 people. Real life experience.

Glad I won’t be around for AI. I think it is gonna be a bloodbath.
