donors don't want to give up their rights to the seats. The costs of west side seats for a season are much higher than the tickets could be sold for on the secondary market on average. If there were not those rights some would give up tickets many years. It is probably true that new donations and demand could make up for that but that is not certain. But as of now west side chair season tickets are more expensive than the same seats on the secondary market on average and by quite a bit.
