I lived in the bay Area my first 40 years and NO ONE added "the" except for foreigners from LA. Probably a new thing with all of the Tech transplants with no radio traffic reports for them to understand how they are supposed to speak native.

It’s never “the” I-15. It’s either “I-15” or “the 15”.

I either use the name “I-25” or just say the number “25” here in Colorado.
