each season. You could have a 16 team tournament and still end up with the same top 2-3 teams and a rotating 4th team, just like we had last season with the first time CFP participant Cincinnati. Who was not very competitive but did just as well as most of the other 4th teams who have been blown out.

I am not sure what factors will cause it to change, but need more 5 star recruits to choose various schools around the country instead of mostly choosing Bama, Georgia, Ohio St., Clemson before there will be good variety in a final 4 regardless of how the final 4 is chosen or determined (i.e. whether determined by a committee or 8 or 12 or 16 team playoff).
