Typical year has BYU on an ESPN channel for 5 of 6 home games plus BYU TV for the 6th.
Last year may have been a bit of an anomaly for road games given the thrown together schedule, but, iirc, I was able to watch every BYU game live last season and almost every season even though I am not in Utah.
That is a key part of the ACCESS part of the equation. BYU fans all around the country now get more opportunities to see BYU play in a stadium near them. That is the other part of ACCESS.
EXPOSURE is different, though interrelated in some ways. BYU wants to be seen live at the stadium and on TV by as many people as possible and not just by BYU fans and Church members. This is recognition of BYU sports being a missionary tool.
Both of these things and having some control over these things is way more important to The Church that the max $ payout.
