Your mistake ratio is largely influenced by your opponents speed, size, and strength.
You can't just say oh we lost because we were undisciplined. Or that it looks like we lost just as a result of too many mistakes, when the reason why the mistakes were created in the first place were in large part due to the physical attributes of the guys across from us being better than ours, even if just by a tenth of a second.
That's why the nfl puts such a premium on physical attributes such as speed and then try to coach them up from there. Scouts sure don't seem to think we have as good of natural raw material to work with as you seem to.
My 14 year old nephew doesn't get why the same moves that work on the court against his friends don't work against me. He says, man I usually do that cross over perfectly but for some reason I keep messing it up against you, I'm just making too many mistakes, you aren't better.
Uh, yeah, because I'm bigger and quicker so its easier to make a mistake against me. I may not hit the ball out of your hands when you cross-over but I'm quick enough to make you mess up. I helped cause the mistake, you didn't just fail to execute. Your poor speed compared to mine made it appear like you were undisciplined with your dribble when it was actually just me messing up your dribble execution.
