Speed is not everything. A Program's mistake ratio is far more important...
Go back to the Navy Game.
BYU's mistakes on D amounted to 2 missed stop opportunities, 2 gash plays against the defense.
BYU had 1 TO but even that was likely the result of a player being tripped.
BYU had 1 penalty.

When your team controls and owns the positive mistake ratio against an opponent, it usually wins.
BU has at times been very undisciplined. So many loses in the last 30 years were the result of too many mistakes, not poor team speed.
