I think the pendulum has swung far to one side. It may have previously been to
far to the other. Perhaps somewhere in the middle would be best? Although, I think a little more toward WWII side and a little less to the modern side . . . maybe 60/40?

America has a guilt problem (especially white america) and it makes us afraid to stand up for ourselves or anything we believe in (as a group/majority). We feel guilty for being white, for being men, for being christian, for being straight, for being successful, for being healthy, for being american, for not living in poverty, etc, etc, etc. Until we get over our guilt and are proud to be who we are and stand up for ourselves again, wussiness (along with many other issues) will prevail. It is the characteristic that best describes what we are as a people these days, IMO.
