It's over the top, but don't we all do something over the top?
Some people make ridiculous gardens in their yard (spending way more money than they get back in produce).
Some people go all-out on their kitchen. Some people build an indoor train set.
Some people bling out their car, or their bike, or their boat, or their camper, or their tailgating wagon.
Some people make their kids a crazy-awesome playset, or treehouse.
Some people go to REI and buy the greatest tent/ sleeping bag/ camp stove combo.
All of those things seem over-the-top to me, but I say to each his own (within the confines of his time and financial resources). I assure you there are things about my house that are over-the-top. If there is nothing about your life that is over the top, get a hobby!
