Previously BYU had to be one of the top 2 teams to get a shot at the NC. Now top 4. Neither is likely, of course, but top 4 is obviously easier.

If it's just about playing a big time January (BCS) bowl, there is really no difference. If BYU is undefeated, they go. If not, they don't. Just like always.
