The defense lines up in a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 formation (or the vaunted "line" or "stick," as defensive gurus call it), basically in a direct line in front of the center going back from the line of scrimmage to about 10 yards deep. The trick is that you lineup from biggest to smallest, such that the QB under center can only see the nose tackle. Confused, and then thinking the D is so cocky that they have only lined up one defender against his 11, he inevitably calls a QB sneak to teach the NT a lesson. As he nonchalantly takes the snap, the NT shouts the "stick" war cry and the entire defense locks arms at the elbows and rotates toward the scrimmage line. This rotation is commonly referred to as the "whipping strategy," to fling the last three defenders directly at the helpless QB. Although the QB gains 5-10 yards on the play, the whipping-3 hit the QB with such force that the ball is dislodged, picked up by the defense, and returned for the easy 6. Also, there is a 75% chance that the whipping-3 hit will ferociously injure the QB and 25% chance the injury will be career-ending.

The follow-up formation is for the D to lineup in two rows facing each other with one knee down and arms extended. Again, confused, the QB hands the ball to the RB (no way the QB keeps the ball after that "stick" formation) and, after taking the handoff, the RB has to power through a line of arms...and here's the catch...without fumbling the ball.
