I see your point
And I agree that it needs to happen more. All I can do is speak from the experiences of me and those I know personally. A few times, I've told people off for being idiots, and if I encountered any religious bashing as OP described, I would speak up. So would the friends I attend games with. I know this because they've confronted religion bashers whenever we've run into them around Utah and outside of it (again, we've yet to run into any at games).

And just as you've yet to see ute fans calling out their own, I have yet to see BYU fans calling out their own. That doesn't mean it doesn't occur on both sides, nor does it mean that their doesn't need to be more fans calling out their own. What it means is that we're basing our beliefs of of our own experiences. There's nothing wrong with that, but we need to realize that it probably goes both ways and that both the "dirty yewts" and the "self-righteous cougs" need more rational people (like the 12 you've mentioned, ).

As for the Jesus thing, I personally find nothing wrong with it as long as there's no malicious intent. He did it last year when the MUSS was trying to start a new halftime tradition for the Holy War called Parting the Red Sea (it failed miserably). The Muss and my friend weren't doing it to bash on the church, they were doing it to try and create a tradition playing off of the whole Holy War and Utah being red themes.
