is not necessarily to place the most deserving teams in the playoff, the happier we'll all be. They have an unabashed objective to get as many teams from the SEC and Big 10 in as they can loosely justify, and to place the most rating-friendly teams from those conferences in the CFP ranked as highly as possible. It's money and power driven and those two conferences have the most of each including who is on the committee. They don't want transparency or accountability, those would get in the way of their objective.
They don't care about the non P2 conferences or teams. They'll give a nod to the top G5 team and if they can "reasonably" avoid putting in more than 1 team from the B12, ACC, G-5 they absolutely will. It's not about fairness or how much non P-2 teams deserve to be ranked, they frankly don't care.
I believe, short of legislation or other legal action, this will not change. The only way to get in as an at large, is to have an impeccable resume and hope enough teams from P2 have bad losses late, IMHO.
