It may not be a significant percentage, but there are enough stories on X and
elsewhere of really bad behavior at the game by Ute fans that it’s a problem.

I’ve read story after story of people getting shoved, spit on, having empty water bottles thrown, middle fingers in people’s faces, yelling in people’s faces, wives getting called the b word, religious mockery, and a whole bunch of other stories where their fans were acting like a bunch of animals.

I get that at a rivalry game there is going to be people bantering back and forth and maybe some colorful language. But the yewts consistently do stuff that crosses the line. I guarantee it doesn’t happen to that same level at LES.

Utah fans coming to LES don’t worry about their safety the way some BYU fans do going to RES.

I think 85% of yewt fans are fine or if they heckle, they don’t cross the line. But there is the 10-15% that do cross the line who make RES a place that goes beyond.

Last time I went there was for the Beck to Harline game. In the concourse I had at least 5 or 6 people get in my face and one guy shoving his flag on a pole in my face hitting me with it. And I saw worse stuff with other fans.

It’s clear that the base of their actions are religious, and that makes it all the more pointed. The lions share of making the rivalry more civil is on the Utes. That much is clear.
