cougarmeister How does this work?
Radiologist (likely) saved my life by spotting a spinal infection
I had (increasingly painful) back pain for around a month, then finally got an MRI, and the radiologist called me around 10:30 PM on a Friday and said that he had looked at my scan and thinks that I have an infection in my spinal column, and that I should go to the ER and get it checked out.

I replied that I would go first thing in the morning, and he said: "No, you need to pack a bag and go right now to the ER."

Turns out I did have a staph infection (MSSA) in my spinal column, and after 3 days of IV antibiotics in the hospital and then 12 weeks of in-home IV antibiotics later, I didn't die.
