Years ago. Also Pope is a great coach and when he left it forced the athletic dept. and BYU to rethink and change their whole approach to bball. We can't afford to get new coaches every couple of years, there just aren't a lot of good LDS coaches out there to consider, let alone hire - KY is one of the exceptions and we're lucky to have him.
