Team a week after being cut. She went to her first practice last Wednesday, then they had their first game Thursday. She killed it. She played really well and we were on cloud nine.
Then during warmups for the varsity game, she took a spike to the side of the head when she wasn’t looking. A hit that wouldn’t affect 99% of people. But she had a series of concussions a few years ago. She blacked out and dropped. Vision went blurred, felt nauseous, and an instant headache.
It’s been 7 days now. She has been seen by 3 concussion clinics and is beginning treatment. But she is a walking shell of herself. It’s like talking to an empty body. If she walks down the stairs in our house, it wipes her out for hours. She is a ghost of herself.
School started this week and she hasnt been able to go. I can’t imagine that she’ll be back in school within the next few months. She can’t read, or maintain a conversation for longer than a few sentences. Tonight she was asked to homecoming by a boy she would have been thrilled by a week ago. But tonight when we told her she was asked to homecoming, she gave a blank stare and said “oh”. I think we’re going to have to tell the boy she isn’t in a condition to go.
We’re praying for a miracle. But right now it’s breaking our hearts. We could use some CB prayers in our house right now.
