We paid for the first 2 years of each child (6). They needed to figure out a way
to finish if that was their goal. Work/Scholarships/Grants. The kids have done some of all of those options. Or one other option was to drop school but none of them opted for that (although one was close to this option). My kids all amazed me with how they stepped up and found a way to get it done. Five have graduated and my youngest is now a Jr. I have one that went on and completed a Masters degree (she did that on her own mostly...she lived at home to save money).

It was hard. But the benefits I saw (and they all have acknowledged this from seeing their peers at work) is that they're more resourceful, hard-working, and don't take for granted their employment. They have all succeeded when some of their co-workers were flaking.
