over the years. Sure, the 2024 NFL draft kind of held serve on how top HS QB's got drafted, but how many of those end up being multi-year NFL starters is another matter. NFL draft guys are more willing to take a chance on someone who everyone else rates as a future star, as they are hesitant to look stupid by taking a "flyer" that then doesn't pan out. It would be interesting to see a list of the top NFL QB's of all time, like Brady, Montana, Young, Favre, Brees, Elway, Marino, Rodgers, Mahomes, and even others, like Cousins, and what were their "HS" rankings before they became NFL legends.
Given I know some of those guys weren't huge HS stars, or even college legends, I suspect the link between HS ranking and NFL stardom wouldn't be as congruous as the smaller sample size of the 2024 NFL draft seems to look.
