I think you are seeing a change in philosophy at BYU
New leadership facing new realities.
Basketball is more evident because of a recent coaching change--great time to go all in.
Football will probably be a bit more gradual as it ramps up. But I don't think BYU is satisfied to abandon its football team and just focus on basketball. I think the school wants to be competitive in both and in either case, you have to open up the wallet.
