We did the same. In some ways, it was as if Covid didn't exist up there.
It was a very nice break from what we were dealing with at the time. And nobody died during our trip, that I know of.

We enjoyed seeing Devil's Tower as much or more than Mt Rushmore. Also, hiked through Jewel Cave. Stayed in Deadwood.
