A couple of directions you can go...
1. I will always suggest a trade school and pick a trade to go into, very little debt at all and the training and skill gained could easily net someone 6 figures a year for the rest of their life.

2. Find the next school that best fits your desired degree/career path, and do the research to select the school that will get you from start to finish the fastest and, in some cases, the cheapest. Both of my sons wanted so badly to go to Oklahoma State out of High school, but Oklahoma State didn't offer their career path at all.

3. Go to a community college your first couple of years, get your generals out of the way and your tougher classes done at a community college and then try to get into the school you want, this is kind of what my youngest did. He didn't go to a community school, but he did go to a smaller school where the tuition was cheaper and he is in the process of trying to get into Texas A&M now to get the degree he wants/needs for his career path.

4. If your child really wants that BYU environment, BYU-Idaho.
