… ward members gathering to introduce themselves. The bishop and his wife along with many others had sat down and we were laughing and getting to know each other. I would say there were about 10 people, most were in leadership.

At one point a recent movie in theaters was recommended. It was a chick flick, and some of the husbands poked a little fun. I commented that my wife likes Hallmark movies at Christmas and i “get” to watch them with her. About five minutes into each movie I will spill the beans on how the movie will end. I am therefore no longer allowed to make comments during the movie or i will be asked to go watch something alone in our bedroom.

Many of the couples nod and laugh at this. The bishop’s wife then asks what I like to watch in my room. She is a romantic “hallmark” watcher herself.

Remember, the room we are in is a little noisy and nobody knows us. Everyone is smiling and leaning in to hear the answer.

My soft-voiced wife, ready to poke fun back at me says, “He likes the Born movies, yuk!”.
Nobody understood through the noise and looked very puzzled, so my wife responds even louder, “He likes Born, but I can’t stand to watch with him”.

We were puzzled at their reaction. I could understand the wives reaction, but even their husbands reaction appeared as though she had said, “He puts on heels, watches Teletubbies, and paints his nails”.

I whispered to my wife under my breath, “Clearly, there are no Jason Born fans in this ward.”

The mood at the table had taken a puzzling turn and we had no clue why.
