Utah fans know that Whittingham has been repeatedly taking every opportunity he gets (and creating others) to talk about the end of regional conferences and the rise of an NFL-lite type of college football. So, knowing that, it's easy to dismiss this as more of the same.

But putting yourself into the shoes of someone who hasn't regularly listened to Whittingham, I'm guessing you can see how it would come across as an attack on BYU or the Big 12. Doesn't mean that's necessarily how it was intended or what it was, but I think if you're honest, you can see how someone (lacking that context on past Whittingham statements) could interpret it as such.
