I’d also back the privatization of student loans.
I’m all for social workers and actually in a position to see some of the good they do. But if that’s your field, perhaps you should not be loaned that kind of money to attend a private school for your degree.
It sounds like she should’ve been at a community college, followed by a state school with in-state tuition and just enough financial aid to get through in 4 years.
I’d also hope that the lack of ability to acquire endless sums of cash via debt might eventually force colleges offering premium-priced degrees that don’t provide real job opportunities to adjust their absurd tuition rates and/or trim useless programs that less students would be able to afford.
