I had in fact heard at one point Allegiant had the worst record for in-flight mechanical failures. Seems like the place you least want to have one. I still flew Allegiant a few times after hearing that, but in all seriousness it worried me to see that I was flying a plane with "South African Airlines" logos erased from the cabin. How bad does a plane have to be to be scrapped by a third world airline?
That said, if they can safely land, and if they once again offered a direct flight from my town to Provo, I'd likely book it. I guess I have some level of trust in the FAA and the mandatory inspections.
