I am sure there are small business owners who do very well and neglect to pass a fair wage on to their employees. But the failure rate for SB owners would suggest the opposite is more common.
Many SB owners eventually fail with debts that take years to overcome or bankruptcy that leaves their credit shot while the employees that worked for them made a steady, agreed upon wage, without any long term risk at all. I think the statistics say that 8 or 9 out of 10 restaurant businesses fail within one year?
A market place that allows free choice is still more fair, even when there are some who make greedy choices. Once the Govt. dictates how to run your business (its involvement increases every year) then, ironically, the ones who suffer the most are the ones the $15 wage is supposedly trying to help.
At least that has been my experience.
