When accusing others of strawmen, better make sure you aren't using any yourself.
"The point of the post wasn't that every Ute fan mocks Mormons"
Didn't say it was. I was criticizing the guy describing TWO f-bombs from the more than 13k people in that arena over a period of approx 2.5 hours as "constant"
"The post was questioning why that 40% or whatever of the Ute fanbase are Mormon are apparently ok with the disrespect served up by the minority of those who love to use athletic events as a forum for intimidating and publicly berating those who believe in a different manner."
Probably the same reason the LDS church is "apparently ok" with other "Christian" groups proselytizing right outside Temple Square, handing out anti-LDS paraphernalia, etc. there during General Conference, etc. They have their rights to free speech just as much as you do.
By the way, spouting f-bombs doesn't constitute "intimidation".
"Since you bring up the word "consistently," that question has been consistently asked by BYU fans for years and I don't see an answer in sight. When the poster said "consistently," I took that to mean that there seems to be a few or a minority that try to confront or provoke a fight at every event. Every event = consistent, not every person = consistent. And that generalization has been my 15 year experience as well."
Then I suggest you invest in some reading glasses. As has been posted in this thread and elsewhere, such behavior happens at EVERY sporting event, yes, even BYU ones, by BYU FANS.
